About NCHM

National Council for Hotel Management (NCHM ) is an autonomous body under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The Council regulates academics for B.Sc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration, popularly known as B.Sc. (Hospitality) / B.Sc. (HM) and nine other courses that are imparted at 21 Central Institutes of Hotel Management (IHM), 25 State Government IHM, 1 Public Sector Undertaking and 24 Private IHM. Besides, 12 Food Craft Institutes offer Diploma programs in core operational areas.All Institutes follow standardised course curricula prescribed by the Council for different professional programs.

 

The gateway to the programs offered by IHM is NCHM JEE. Every year NCHM JEE or IHM entrance exam is conducted in the month of April.

B.Sc.(HOSPITALITY & HOTEL ADMINISTRATION) PROGRAMME

 

The Bachelor of Science program in Hospitality and Hotel Administration is offered jointly by the National Council for Hotel Management and the Indira Gandhi National Open University. The Three-Year (Six Semester) course equips students with all the required skills, knowledge and attitude to efficiently discharge supervisory responsibilities in the Hospitality sector. The program involves in-depth laboratory work for students to acquire required knowledge and skill standards in the operational areas of Food Production, Food & Beverage Service, Front Office Operation and House Keeping. It also provides managerial inputs in Hotel Accountancy, Food Safety & Quality, Human Resource Management, Facility Planning, Financial Management, Strategic Management, Tourism Marketing and Management. The B.Sc.HHA program (Generic & Vegetarian) is available along with the Vegetarian candidates in all the affiliated Institute of Hotel Management but only vegetarian practical option is available for vegetarian candidates. However, other theory classes will be at par with the other students.

NCHM JEE Paper Pattern , Time and Marking Scheme

 

NCHM JEE tests the aptitude level of the candidate in five different areas namely Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude, Reasoning and Logical Deduction, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, English Language, Aptitude for Service Sector.

NCHM JEE ELIGIBILITY

​

(A) Qualifying Examination

​

Candidate must have passed 10+2 system of Senior Secondary examination or its equivalent with English as one of the subjects.

​

Those appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examination can also appear on provisional basis. Provisional admission will stand cancelled if proof of having passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) is not submitted at the time of counselling or at the time of admission or latest by 30th September of the relevant year.

​

(B) Age Limit

​

  1. For candidates from General and OBC categories, upper age limit is 25 years as on 1st July of the relevant year.

  2. In the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, upper age limit is 28 years as on 1st July of the relevant year.

  3. Upper age limit for Physically Challenged candidates shall be reckoned as per the category he/she belongs to i.e. General/SC/ST/OBC.

  4. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/Pre-University Certificate shall be the authentic proof that will be accepted.

(C) Physical Fitness

​

  • All qualified candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate at the time of admission from a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format

​

(D) Reservation

​

  • For the SC and ST categories, 15% and 7.5% seats, respectively, are reserved in Central and State Government Institutes of Hotel Management.

  • Candidates belonging to SC / ST categories will be required to produce the original caste/tribe certificate issued by a competent authority in the prescribed format during admission.

  • 27% seats are reserved for candidates belonging to OBC (Non creamy layer) category in Central Institutes of Hotel Management.

  • Those belonging to the creamy layer of OBC are NOT entitled for reservation.

  • The OBC candidates (non-creamy layer) will be required to produce original OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) caste certificate issued on or after April 01, 2016 by a competent authority in the prescribed format

  • 10% of the seats are reserved for Economically Weaker Sections(EWS)

  • Each Category will have 5% reservations for persons with Disability(PwD) as defined in The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act , 2016

NCHM / IHM SELECTION PROCESS:

​

  1. To gain admission into the first year of the three-year degree course in any of the colleges under the National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, the eligible candidate has to sit for the NCHM  JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION (JEE) which is an all- India examination generally held in the second/ third week of April every year.

  2. Usually, announcements of JEE application forms' availability, dates of the examination, etc. are made in the months of December / January.

  3. After the JEE, a merit list based on the marks secured in JEE is announced.

  4. Those who qualify in the JEE's merit list are invited for counselling in different centers

  5. Allotment of Institute is made of the eligible candidates based on the merit list of the JEE.

Guidelines for Filling up the Online Application Form for JEE 

​

  • Name : Candidate should write his/her name in CAPITAL LETERS (IN ENGLISH) as given in class 10th or equivalent certificate.

​

  • Category : Tick the appropriate Categories – General(GEN) , Scheduled Caste(SC) , Scheduled Tribe(ST), Other Backward Classes(OBC – Non Creamy Layer) and Sub Category – Physically Disabled(PD) and Kashmiri Migrant(KM). Category once submitted cannot be changed.

​

  • 12th Standard : Tick your 12th standard status as “Passed” if you have completed 12th standard. Tick “Appeared” if you are currently appearing for 12th boards

​

  • Photograph: The candidate should affix his/her recent colour photograph with white background. The photo should be scanned and uploaded.

​

  • Signature : While filling up the online application form, the candidate must upload his/her scanned signature.

​

  • Centre of the Test: Refer to the list of Centres of JEE. Fill in the city from where the candidate wishes to appear for the JEE.

​

  • Verification : While filling the Online form, the candidate must verify the correctness of all the information furnishes by him/her.

​
